Ship – Paging System

The paging system described is designed and manufactured for marine applications and consists of:

  • Server, based on Linux operating system, that include:
    • interface for PABX and mobile devices (DECT, IP_DECT, Wi-Fi, GSM network)
    • alarm system and ERP/CRM software applications
    • SMTP server for email handling, decoding and send alarm to pagers
    • database and datalog
  • Encoder/transmitter unit driven from Server
  • Ethernet switch to connect the server to all the other parts constituting the system, including LAN
  • RS485 interfaces transmitting alarms
  • Alarm unit based on remote contacts activation
  • SIP protocol traffic originated from PABX

OPERATION

Paging traffic is generated from PABX, from Operator consoles and from all the alarm sources:

  • Traffic from PABX is based on SIP protocol.
  • Traffic from Console is delivered through LAN (max 240 chars)
  • Traffic from alarm sources can have different routings:
    • via RS485 interface with protocol ESPA4.4.4 (max 240 chars)
    • via dry contacts (max 240 chars)
  • Different priorities can be assigned to the traffic management

The server forwards the outgoing calls via dedicated RS232 interface towards POCSAG Encoder, transmitter and power amplifier guarantee the right RF power level to satisfy the radio coverage on board through the radiating cable system.

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

The system Administrator can:

  • set the system parameters
  • configure Operator Console
  • create/modify the beeper’s database
  • create groups of beepers
  • create alarm messages  and list of beepers for the alarms generated from contacts
  • access the complete message log
  • generate calls to beepers, similarly to the operator console

OPERATOR CONSOLE

The operator console allows to:

  • generate calls towards beeper/predefined group of beepers
  • access the log of all its own calls generated
  • set its own password at its first log-in
